Is there anyone who knows, if RAID is possible with WHS?
On my current PC you can change normal IDE-Mode to RAID-Mode in the BIOS and then there's a special RAID-BIOS. (nforce...)

how does it work with the ss4200e? I've read something about Intel Matrix Management system which is software to configure your raid in windows.
But I've to install WHS on this RAID, that means it must be created outside of Windows...

The SS4200 uses the software RAID feature available in the Linux Kernel. It has no hardware RAID controller.
The EMC Lifeline environment can configure 2/4 drives in Raid 0 (mirroring) or 4 drives in RAID 5 (distributed error control).
Lifeline creates only one partition (logical volume) and it is formatted using the ext3 filesystem.

I have to correct myself: the ICH7 southbridge works as a RAID controller as well. It simply is not used in such way in the SS4200.
