Drive Issues - Boot issues with WD Drives

Page history last edited by Redhat Virgil 15 years, 11 months ago

As mentioned in Boot Issues - Power light flashes continuously, we've come across some issues with WD Drives causing the units not to boot from the onboard DOM (where the EMC Linux partition is installed).  It's happened on both 500Gb and 1Tb drives, though in each case these have been removed from Linksys NAS devices (which are less than usable).  We've tried clearing the Disks but still hasn't fixed things.  Honestly still up in the air on this one.

Anyone seeing the same?

Hi,

found an solution:
Press reset while starting the NAS, then it will boot from IDE.
Maybe starting without CMOS-Batterie has the same effect...

bye

WD 1TB RE3 Drives required no special procedure to get them to work (i.e. no need to hold reset buttons etc)
